Blackadder had an exceptional career in Medicine and she is most known for being one of the first women in Scotland to follow an academic career on the subject, but also during WW1, while she was working as a radiographer, was one of the first to use X Rays as a way to identify the effects of gas gangrene, as well as a way to study and understand the properties of this substance further.
