<dc:title>Harbour Barometer</dc:title>
<dc:subject>Physics</dc:subject>
<dc:description>This barometer, which is located on 35 North Street, St Andrews, is one of the many barometers whose installation was provoked and supervised by Admiral Robert Fitzroy. After multiple severe storms in 1859, Fitzroy decided to take action and place those barometers at ports throughout Britain, in order to facilitate the prediction of similar storms and other dangerous weather conditions, to make sure that ships would begin their sailing safely and to protect the lives of their crew. The harbour barometer contains 2 different types of barometers, an aneroid (works without the use of a liquid), and a Fitzroy barometer.
