Aberdeen Foyer

Description:

Conversion by Halliday Fraser Munro, 1998.
Aberdeen Foyer is an exciting new approach to meet the needs of young people (16-25). It represents a partnership of various public and voluntary sector agencies and young people together with business and commercial interests. It forms the basis for a comprehensive strategy for tackling issues of the City's young people, in particular the issues of youth homelessness and unemployment. Aberdeen Foyer has two buildings in the city. The Training and Resource Centre occupies the former Marywell Street School. The boldly modern treatment of the conversion earned a special mention in the 1998 Civic Trust Award Scheme. The second Foyer building, in the former Trinity Church in Crown Street, similarly received a special mention in the Award Scheme this year.
